Ep 15 : Interview with Vancouver Pagan Pride Committee Members !

It is such a treat to have the committee members of Vancouver Pagan Pride with me today to chat about this year’s event. Taking place Aug 13 in trout lake park. For months I have been excited about this event as it is our first in-person VPP in 2 yrs. If you have never been to VPP and you live in the Vancouver area I highly recommend you check it out. It’s a fun day filled that includes seminars, public rituals and community building. As a mainly solo practitioner, I look forward to this event every year.

With me today I have 4 committee members…

Amanda Jane Osborne

Holly

  • Volunteer Coordinator and long-time friend of the event
  • (Holly stepped into her official role this year to assist a member who is on maternity leave)

Ian

  • Host of the Druid Information Booth
  • Founder of West Coast ADF Garry Oak ProtoGrove
  • Unofficial IT person for the committee, community member for many years

Kurt

  • (also known in our community as Rowen)

Vancouver has been hosting a Pagan Pride Day since 1998 and it has grown from a small gathering to an event that the community looks forward to, and it grows each year. There are multiple diverse vendors, public rituals, info booths, booths representing different paths, seminars, readers, healers and even a children’s corner. This is a very open and inclusive event and Pagan Pride isn’t only a Vancouver thing, it is an official movement

Increase community goodwill, public education and awareness towards Paganism. Events are open to Pagans, non-Pagans, passersby, and onlookers.

So, my dear listener if you are not living in the lower mainland google pagan pride + your city, and see if there is an event in your area. It is a great way to meet your local pagans and build community.

This year everything will be kicking off at 10 am with the opening ritual. Hosted by the veteran team of Dave and Garland, who create a beautiful container that welcomes everyone to the event as they are. From elder witches to curious parkgoers that wander over, everyone can take part in the ritual. This is both mine and Amanda’s favourite part. She enjoys watching so jumps right in and who chooses to gently observe. I love the feeling of us all coming together, as a mainly solo practitioner it’s really fun for me to be within the group and feel all the energy flow.

You can check out the full schedule for the day here.

I want to shout out to Ian who revamped the VPP website this year including making a QR code that will be posted at the event. Rowen has been working on signage so you will be able to find all the things you are looking for.

the event page for our PPD is here

the official page for the global Pagan Pride Project can be found if you click here

If you are interested in joining the VPP comity or offering some of your time in a less official role on Aug 13, you can contact Holly through the VPP website. One of the big needs we recognized this year is for people to relieve booth attendants so that they can attend a seminar or two. There is always help needed in setting up and tearing down as well.

I am hoping to see you all there! and I have a few stickers to give out !! Drop by my booth and say hello.

I know that it is going to be a fantastic event and one that you won’t want to miss out on. Many of us have been craving the connection of community and this event is one where you can come together with like-minded individuals.

I want to recognize the official sponsors of the VPP
